§ 1Overview
This policy describes how personal data is handled when you use the Baixian Trade website. It covers the information you provide when you contact us through the site, the limited information collected automatically as you browse, and the rights available to you.
The site is a business-to-business resource. It is not a consumer shop, it does not process payments, and it does not require you to create an account. As a result, the personal data involved is modest, and is set out in full below — we have tried to describe what actually happens rather than list categories that do not apply to us.
§ 2Who we are and how to reach us
This site is operated under the Baixian Trade name by Baixian Group (百鮮集團), a group of affiliated companies based in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, with operations on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. For the purposes of this policy, Baixian Trade is the party responsible for personal data collected through the site.
If you have a question about this policy, or would like to exercise any of the rights described below, you can reach us through our contact page. Please tell us enough about your request for us to understand and respond to it.
§ 3What we collect
We collect personal data in two ways: information you give us, and a limited amount collected automatically.
Information you give us
When you contact us through one of the forms on the site, we collect what you submit. In practice this is business-contact information and the substance of your inquiry:
- Request for quotation — your name, company, business email, phone number (if you choose to provide one), the market or country you are writing from, and the details of your inquiry, such as species, volume, specification, and destination.
- General inquiry — your name, company, email, and your message.
- Media inquiry — your name, your outlet or organisation, your email, and the nature of your inquiry.
- Subscription — where you choose to subscribe to our research, the email address you provide.
Information collected automatically
As you browse, we collect a limited set of aggregate, non-identifying information through a cookieless analytics tool — for example, which pages are viewed, the approximate region a visit comes from, the type of device, and the site that referred you. This information is not tied to your identity. We also store a single functional cookie to remember your language preference. Our use of cookies is described in our cookie policy.
We do not collect special categories of data — such as health, biometric, or political information — and the site is not designed to gather them.
§ 4Why we collect it, and our legal bases
We use the information described above to:
- respond to your inquiry, prepare a quotation, and carry on the resulting commercial correspondence;
- maintain and develop our commercial relationship with you and the organisation you represent;
- operate, secure, and improve the site; and
- meet our own record-keeping, regulatory, and legal obligations.
Where data-protection law requires us to identify a legal basis for using your personal data, we rely on the following: our legitimate interest in operating a business and responding to commercial inquiries; the steps necessary to enter into or perform a contract with you or your organisation; your consent, where we have asked for it — for example, to send you our research; and compliance with the legal obligations that apply to us.
§ 5Who has access
Inquiries submitted through the site are received and stored within the business software we use to run our operations — currently Microsoft's 365 and Power Platform services, including SharePoint — and are accessible to the Baixian Trade personnel responsible for handling them, such as the trade desk for a request for quotation.
We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with advertisers or use it to build advertising profiles. We may share it with professional advisers, with service providers who process it on our behalf under appropriate confidentiality obligations, and with authorities where we are required to do so by law.
§ 6International transfers
Baixian Trade operates from Taiwan, with affiliated companies and operations on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and uses cloud services that may store data in other locations. As a result, personal data you submit may be processed in Taiwan, in mainland China, or in the data-centre regions of the service providers we use.
Where personal data moves across borders, we take steps appropriate to the data involved to keep it protected to a standard consistent with this policy. If you would like to understand how this applies to a specific situation, contact us through our contact page.
§ 7How long we keep it
We keep the information you submit for as long as we need it to respond to your inquiry and to maintain the commercial relationship it relates to, and for a reasonable period afterwards consistent with our business records and any legal obligations that apply. Aggregate, non-identifying analytics information is retained separately and is not linked back to you.
§ 8Your rights
Depending on where you are located, data-protection law may give you rights over the personal data we hold about you. These commonly include the right to ask for a copy of your data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data deleted, to restrict or object to certain uses, to receive data in a portable form, and — where we rely on your consent — to withdraw that consent.
To exercise any of these, contact us through our contact page. We will respond consistent with the law that applies to you. There is no charge for a reasonable request, and we may need to confirm your identity before we act.
§ 10Children
This is a business-to-business site directed at commercial counterparties and professional readers. It is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
§ 11Regional notices
The following notes address points specific to particular jurisdictions. They supplement, rather than replace, the rest of this policy.
European Economic Area and United Kingdom (GDPR)
Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, Baixian Trade acts as the controller of the personal data described in this policy. Our legal bases for processing are those set out in section 4. You have the rights set out in section 8, and you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Because the site is used for business-to-business purposes, the personal data involved is business-contact information provided in a professional capacity.
Mainland China (PIPL)
Where the Personal Information Protection Law applies, the personal information described in this policy is handled in accordance with its requirements. Because Baixian Trade operates across the Taiwan Strait and uses cloud services, personal information you provide may be transferred outside mainland China for the purposes set out in section 4; where we rely on your consent for such a transfer or for a particular use, we will ask for it separately. You may contact us to exercise the rights available to you under that law.
Taiwan (Personal Data Protection Act)
Personal data collected through the site is handled in accordance with Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act. You may ask to review, obtain a copy of, supplement or correct, or request deletion of your personal data, and you may ask us to stop collecting, processing, or using it, subject to the limits the Act allows.
Republic of Korea (PIPA)
Where the Personal Information Protection Act of Korea applies, the personal data described in this policy is handled in accordance with its requirements, and the rights set out in section 8 are available to you. This policy is provided in English; a Korean-language version may be made available in future.
§ 12Changes to this notice
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practice, the operation of the site, or applicable law. When we do, the updated version replaces this one on the site. The version visible here is the version that applies to your use of the site.
